About
Selin Bülbül
Partner at Hyperfocal Communications, leading the firm's art advisory practice from Istanbul and London.
Selin Bülbül is a Partner at Hyperfocal Communications, an Abbert Capital company, where she leads the firm's art advisory practice from Istanbul and London. She advises collectors, family offices, interior designers, hotels, and corporate clients on the sourcing, acquisition, and placement of curated artworks — with a focus on bringing emerging artists to the global market.
Drawing on a curated network of artists and deep relationships with dealers and galleries across Europe, Turkey, and the Gulf, Selin helps clients build and manage collections that reflect who they are and what they're trying to accomplish. Her advisory practice covers acquisitions and dispositions, gallery and museum placement, and the organisation of artist residency programmes for UHNW clients. She brings qualified buyers to her gallery and dealer partners and places consignment works with collectors and institutions looking for distinctive pieces.
Selin also helps collectors connect their art interests to their philanthropic activities — linking private collections to nonprofit initiatives that extend their cultural reach. Increasingly, she works with governments and institutional clients on cultural diplomacy, using art as a strategic tool to strengthen a country's international profile and relationships.
Selin's career began at the U.S. Department of State and Commerce, where she served as a Foreign Service Commercial Specialist helping American companies enter the Turkish market. That role put her at the centre of cross-border dealmaking and investment, and she built a global network of investors, trade officials, and business leaders that she still draws on today. She holds a degree from California State University, Northridge, and brings 15 years of cross-sector experience in hospitality and international trade. A former nationally ranked competitive swimmer in the United States, Selin remains active in Turkish international sports diplomacy.
Principles
What guides my practice
Relationships First
My work is built on long-term relationships — with artists, dealers, collectors, and institutions. Every recommendation reflects that trust.
Discretion
Collecting and advising at the highest level demands privacy. Every engagement is treated with the confidentiality it deserves.
Emerging Talent
I have an instinct for overlooked talent and a commitment to bringing emerging artists to collectors and institutions who can carry their work further.
Global Perspective
With an active client base spanning the Gulf, the United States, Central Asia, and Europe, I bring a cross-border sensibility to every engagement.
Candour
I believe in honest counsel, even when it means advising against a purchase. Trust is built on truthfulness, not flattery.
Cultural Depth
Great collections are animated by ideas, not trends. I work across mediums and generations, prioritising artists whose practice contributes meaningfully to the cultural conversation.
